SEAMEO-SPAFA is the Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts.
The Centre is under the aegis of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and is hosted by the Government of Thailand.

SEAMEO-SPAFA works in co-operation with the SEAMEO Secretariat and SEAMEO-SPAFA member countries. Support is also received from donor countries (Japan, Canada, and Italy) as well as from international organizations such as UNESCO, ICCROM, and IDP Australia.

Main Objectives are:

-Cultivate awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage through collaboration in information dissemination and other relevant programmes of activities;
-Promote and help enrich archaeological and cultural activities in the region;
-Further professional competence in the fields of archaeology and fine arts through regional programmes and activities and through sharing of resources and experiences; and
- Advance mutual knowledge and understanding among the countries of Southeast Asia through regional programmes in archaeology and fine arts.

The goals in carrying out these activities are as follows:
- benefit as many SEAMEO member countries as possible,
- produce long-term impact on individuals or institutions by improving skills and self-reliance,
- complement other development efforts related to culture and society,
- facilitate the transfer of knowledge, skills and technology suitable to the development of Southeast Asia.

Organization Backgrond

SEAMEO-SPAFA, like other SEAMEO Centres, operates as an autonomous, international institution. The organizational structure of SEAMEO - SPAFA consists of a policy making body, called the help Governing Board, whose executive power is vested in the Centre Director with the help of professional and general service staff.

The responsibilities of SEAMEO - SPAFA are divided into three services:
- Academic and Professional
- Administrative and Financial
- Library and Documentation

SEAMEO-SPAFA also offers the following:
- Consultation services in cultural resource management designed to suit requirements of governments and organizations.
- Specially arranged cultural tours conducted by the region's leading specialists and academics in archaeology, history, and culture.
- Applied Science Laboratory for Archaeology and Fine Arts.
- Full facility conference and lecture rooms, and accommodation available for guests and rental by the public.
