What a Wonderful World

Last month we reported on Khun Anuchit Jittrathanakul, SPAFA alumni and resource person on several SPAFA programmes, who had recently presented a copy of his book ‘What a Wonderful World' to SPAFA's Director, Dr. Pisit Charoenwongsa. H.E. Mr. Pisan Manapawat, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Communities, was also presented with the book in February.
This month, on a courtesy call made to the Royal Embassy of Belgium in Bangkok, H.E. Ambassador Jan Matthysen graciously received the visiting party from SPAFA including Mr. Kevin C. Kettle, Project Development Officer, who accompanied Khun Anuchit Jittrathanakul on 07 March 2008 to present his book and discuss the scope work of his work being undertaken in Pattaya.

Regional Workshop on “From Risk Assessment to Conservation: Safeguarding Archaeological Complexes in the Mekong Subregion” commences in Vat Phou, Lao PDR

On March 9 th the Opening Ceremony took place in Champasak, Lao PDR, for this regional workshop. Working together in collaboration, the Lao Ministry of Information and Culture, the Department of Museums, the Getty Conservation Institute, SPAFA, and the Lerici Foundation, convened this workshop at the World Heritage site of Vat Phou for 25 heritage professionals. The workshop will run until 22 March 2008 . The purpose of the workshop is to address the common conservation issues heritage professionals encounter at their sites throughout the region.
