Introduction

This 3-day International Symposium on values-based approaches to Heritage Tourism will take place at the Bangkok National Museum’s Prince Damrong Auditorium Hall from 24-26 September 2008. This is the 5th event in SEAMEO-SPAFA’s Tourism and Cultural Heritage Programme Series. Previous activities have included regional seminars on:

The general aim of the symposium is to stimulate research in, and wise use of, the heritage for sustainable tourism through the exchange of information among all stakeholders, namely, researchers, corporate managers, and community people. Forms of this include heritage identification, interpretation, and application, in addition to protection for the tourism industry.
