Scope and Benefits of the Conference
This conference is not purely an academic assessment of today’s world in a developmental context. It aims to be an inter-active learning experience for all participants. It will provide a unique forum whereby all voices can be heard and listened to. This is why participation will be actively sought from the grassroots community stakeholders of development projects and their representatives which would comprise project managers from donor and implementing agencies and organizations.
It will also be a forum whereby seemingly unconventional approaches or modalities that can result in positive changes are highlighted. In addition, the advantages of adopting multiple approaches, as well as, including multiple players will show how to effectively channel change for the betterment of society. Thus, participants to the conference will benefit from exposure to an array of ideas and approaches currently surrounding culture and development issues, many of which they may be unfamiliar with. However, all these various aspects are valid and play an integral role in projects designed to effect real change. Therein lies the importance of this proposed conference in affording the opportunity for this type of dialogue to take place, and in thus doing so, providing further impetus for change.
This conference will provide an invaluable networking opportunity and should be of interest to:-
Anyone who believes that human dignity and human security is everyone’s right.
The issues impacting negatively on peaceful development are many. Consider the many health issues ranging from malaria, access to drinking water and the HIV/Aids pandemic. Consider land grabs & forced migration, continuing environmental degradation, the increasing number of refugees, as well as the ongoing violation of human rights & lack of good governance in many parts of the world. These topics, to name just some, can form the basis of paper presentations and workshops delivered at the conference. Please see the sections on Themes & Call for Papers for further information.
The conference aims to be an inter-active learning experience for all participants. It aims to be practical as well as innovative and will, for example, consider how we can use story-telling, music, theatre, and sport to enable real change. Stories, songs, & sport are universal and inspirational. Most importantly they can transcend boundaries and be a unifying force.
So, come join this unique conference and make a difference for
a better world without poverty and conflict…
