The theme of this special issue is “Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Challenges amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.” It is a product of SEAMEO’s collaboration with the University of Tsukuba. It features official contributions from SEAMEO regional centers, namely, the Regional Open Learning Center (SEAMOLEC), the Regional Center for Tropical Biology (BIOTROP), the Regional Center for Education in Science and Mathematics (RECSAM), the Regional Center for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Science, the Regional Center for QITEP in Mathematics, the Regional Center for Tropical Medicine (TROPMED Network), the Regional Center for Special Educational (SPED) Needs (SEN), the Regional Center for QITEP in Language, the Regional Center for Archaeology and Fine Arts (SPAFA), the Regional Center for Community Education Development (CED), and the Regional Center for Technical Education Development (TED). Other contributors came from various universities and learning centers, such as the University of Tsukuba (Japan) and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Surakarta (Indonesia). The various articles in this journal present frameworks, projects, and programs focusing on effective GCED initiatives in Southeast Asia and beyond.
