H.E. Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan, Minister of Education and Training, Vietnam, and President of the SEAMEO Council, visits the SEAMEO SPAFA Centre

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan, Minister of Education and Training, Vietnam, who is also President of the SEAMEO Council, visited the SEAMEO SPAFA Centre, Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, 5 March 2015. He was warmly welcomed by SEAMEO SPAFA Director, Dr. M.R. Rujaya Abhakorn, and members of the SEAMEO SPAFA staff. Dr. M.R. Rujaya Abhakorn delivered a presentation to His Excellency Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan on the activities and programmes of SEAMEO SPAFA, the Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts. His Excellency Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan suggested to SEAMEO SPAFA that the Centre’s activities should not only cater to those in the fields of archaeology and fine arts but to everyday people, especially the younger generation so that they could develop an interest for archaeology, fine arts, and cultural heritage and carry out the works of preservation and promotion of Southeast Asian archaeology,fine arts and cultural heritage in the future. SEAMEO SPAFA’s social responsiblity efforts in mangrove conservation was also a topic of interest during the presentation. His Excellency Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan was also shown Mon palm leaf manuscripts at the SEAMEO SPAFA Library, which is part of the cultural heritage conservation activities being carried out by SEAMEO SPAFA.
